Purpose: To assess changes in the dynamic visual acuity (DVA) in the presence of additional power.
Methods: Forty adults (mean age 24.02 years) without binocular vision disorders were enrolled in the DVA measurement group.
Binocular DVA was randomly measured using a 7A lens and a progressive lens with 1 D, 2 D, and 3 D additions.
Results: Mean DVA for a monofocal lens was 78.45 deg/sec. Mean DVA after the addition of a 1 D, 2 D, or 3 D lens was 69.30o/sec, 68.25o/sec, and 62.85o/sec, respectively. Therefore, mean DVA decreased with an increase in additional power.
Conclusions: DVA of the lenses with additional power were lower than the mean DVA for a monofocal lens by 15%. DVA values gradually decreased with the subsequent increase in the power of addition.
